RUBIK'S CUBE, THE MAGIC OF ART

Everybody knows the Rubik’s cube but it is not only a mechanical puzzle, people around the world have found much uses for it in some forms of art but what are the reasons to do it interesting?

I think that the Rubik’s cube is so interesting because it is include sculpture and art, it inspire people to do something different, change the vision of daily things. It is a 3D mechanical puzzle invented in 1974 by Ernö Rubik and after years it has been a popular game in all the world. It is not only mathematics and algorithms practices, Rubik’s cube has a lot of striking colours for this reason is art too and it is exhibited in New York Museum of Modern Art, but that cube has many uses in the pop art for example in Rubikcubism people do a mosaic style where each small colored square on the face of the cube represents one pixel in recreations of famous pictures like The Last Supper and The Mona Lisa. Nobody knows exactly where this movement comes, probably from France and some photos were exhibited in LA exhibition in 2005. The artist is known as Invader, he is French and his work was exhibit again at Jonathan Levine Gallery in New York 07-2009. The Invader presents his creations for 40 countries and he presents CD’s covers of representative bands around the world like The Clash. He helps for the contemporary art because he makes popular the neo-Impressionist painting technique of pointillism.

Rubik’s cube is fashionable in much ways, for example, in Japan it is very popular the cosplays, these people wear costumes of their favourite anime characters but there are many cosplay rubik’s cube, They found other funny use of it and the costume is very popular around the world. In 2008 the recognized designer house, “Catelbajac” launched “Let’s fly” a beautiful bag inspired in Rubik’s cube and it is very cheap. In general people use the cube in fashion like in hats, dresses and jewelry.

The Rubik’s cube is an amazing invents and it demonstrates the creativity of the people to contribute to art and its progress. I think that art is so important for the humans, it allows that people innovate and use the imagination to highlight the good things of life; in this case artists look beyond about determined element and transform it in many things.
